I realized I forgot to add when this ends. This contest ends on Monday, February 14th at 11:59 PM EST (figure it out-- that's what works for me)

Rules
1) NO GIMMICKED/GAFFED COINS (the routine or effect does not have to be clean though)
2) Originality is not required, but suggested
3) Routines are preferred over single vanishes, though flurries are acceptable

Caveats
1) Mark, though you may decide not to, if you do enter you can only use one hand
2) DO NOT DO A MATRIX. please
3) Have fun :)

Prizes
1st will receive a bicycle karnival deck, if there are more than 10 entrants I will be giving out a bee erdnase to 1st AND the karnival deck to 2nd

You should have made sure Mark could not use the Flash... a bit too late, eh?

au contraire mon ami... NO GIMMICKS :D

Albert

Haha You should have just said, "Mark, you cannot use your hands" because he will still amaze you. I'm serious... somehow...

Bah! I'm still beginning to learn coin magic, so I can't enter :D

TheMisdirectingHand

Albert, we must somehow come up with the best coin routine possible together. I'll split half the deck with you.

Too bad I can't do coin magic :(

... seriously... COINS!!!??? unless we all get Ponta the Smith's mind and skills, making a new routine is quite hard... there's not that many sleights as cards and they aren't as easy to master and apply as card sleights( srly... you can use a second deal as a switch if you're good enough, but a coin vanish is simply a vanish)... i'll try and join as soon as i master Ponta's one coin routine...

BTW: no matrix? really? but they are the best ones...

Neato! Great job setting this up! :D
I think I will promote this in my next video's description. ^_^

I wonder though.. what exactly is meant with gimmicks? Every extra prop (like in '3 Fly') or just dirty gaffed ones?
If you mean the first one this will be very limited though. :hm:

Thank you mark! It would be much appreciated. And by gimmick I mean not a real coin. That's what I attempted to clear up in that it doesn't have to be impromptu- for example you could use 4 coins for a 3 coins across kind of thing, but no shells/copper-silver etc.

Again, originality is not required, but it helps- don't stress out too much trying to come up with something completely new. Also if you take an unoriginal plot but present it in a new way, that works too. What I don't want is a carbon-copy of someone else's material.

If a gimmick coin can't be used.. he can still use...

THE FLASH.

I also love how there's a place dedicated to just Mark haha...

But Mark still can only use 1 hand, so it's still really hard

If there are only two entries after the week... then I guess it's like that ahaha

Here is my entry.

This is my first attempt at recording my spellbound coin routine inspired off Ponta the Smith's and tillxxblog's (http://www.youtube.com/user/tillxxblog) (http://www.youtube.com/user/tillxxblog)) version.

Hope you like it!

Working with cameras is hard. Especially a crappy webcam -.-

AFAIK, most of the moves here are original, or at least modified.

EDIT: Also, critique would be GREAT!

TheMisdirectingHand
02-14-2011, 07:31 PM
Great work! Though the moves were performed very well, they are still recognizable by a regular magician. Well done, there is not much criticism I can give.

Fruglemonkey

All the productions are MP's, to be honest. And I was kinda hoping that everything before the final vanish would be obvious to a magician, but the final, complete vanish would catch them off guard xD

la0o9
02-15-2011, 05:31 AM
the final vanish DID caught me off guard, i couldn't see when you vanished it... always thought that it was in the left hand... i think you need to make it a bit more obvious for spectators to get better reactions( may be weirder hand position...)

s13zeTheDay
02-15-2011, 01:15 PM
Well the contest is officially extended exactly one week. I need at least one more submission to start the judging.

TheMisdirectingHand
02-18-2011, 02:22 AM
Well.. I guess it's up to me to post a video of the French Drop and give the two decks away.

la0o9
02-18-2011, 04:59 AM
don't you dare, i still have my "1.2.3 coins" routine to upload( but if you really want to post a video of the french drop... feel free)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMEqeZOD548
could have been better... but without good coins, this is the best i can manage...

s13zeTheDay
02-22-2011, 04:55 PM
Well the contest is officially closed. Thanks to all who entered. Due to the fact that I am away with limited internet access this week, the winner will be determined next weekend, though before next monday at the latest. Also to clarify, because there were less than 10 entrants only the karneval deck will be given away. Stay tuned though, it is likely I will be giving away more decks in the future.

----------------------------------------

Congratulations to the winner................. clementhiang!!! I really enjoyed watching all the videos though, and you all did a great job. Feel free to ask/PM me any questions, comments, or concerns you may have. I look forward to (hopefully) hosting many more contests in the future. Last but not least, clementhiang, please PM me about your prize.

Congratz to the winner, and i feel a bit sorry... cause we couldn't provide the host with enough magic( 3 videos with 1 of which-mine- have bad props and performance surely isn't satisfactory).
